Hancock Center & TOD Potential – Urban Design Charette

The AIA Austin – Urban Design Committee, in collaboration with the Central Texas ASLA, organized and successfully put together an Urban Design Charette focused on the Hancock Area. This workshop in June 2022, converged multidisciplinary minds to gather and expose creative ideas for an area in the city with immense potential.

The Hancock Area is known for the converging of IH-35 CapEx project (a project expansion proposed by TXDOT), CAPMetro’s Redline (along the Redline Parkway), the Hancock Center, and the Fiesta Market Retail Center.

The solutions are shared in this report, which could help inform future decisions or exploration of ideas.

Special kudos to Peter Dufrene, Phillip Hammond, Matt Yeager, and Katie Dictus for leading and supporting the logistics of the charette.

Infinite Thanks to the stakeholders and representatives of TXDOT, CAPMETRO, ATP, City of Austin, and the Red Line Parkway Initiative.
